How To Cook A Fresh Turkey

Cooking a fresh turkey is a great way to enjoy a delicious holiday meal. Here are the steps to make sure your turkey comes out perfect every time.

Step 1: Prepping the Turkey

Before you begin cooking your turkey, you’ll need to prep it. Start by removing any giblets and neck from the turkey, and rinse it with cold water. Pat the outside and inside of the turkey dry with paper towels. Then, season the turkey with salt and pepper, and place it on a roasting pan.

Step 2: Stuffing the Turkey

If you’re planning to stuff your turkey, now is the time to do it. Place about two cups of your stuffing in the turkey cavity, and secure it with kitchen twine. Make sure the stuffing is evenly distributed and that the twine is tied tightly.

Step 3: Roasting the Turkey

Now it’s time to start roasting! Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the turkey in the preheated oven, and roast for about 2-3 hours. Be sure to check the internal temperature of the turkey with a meat thermometer. The turkey is done when the thermometer reads 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 4: Letting the Turkey Rest

Once you remove the turkey from the oven, let it rest for at least 15 minutes before carving. This will help the juices redistribute and the meat will be more tender and juicy.

Step 5: Carving and Serving the Turkey

Once the turkey has rested, you can start carving it and serving it. Cut the turkey into slices, and serve it with your favorite sides. Enjoy!
