Instructions for Roasting in the Oven


-3-4 pounds of beef, pork, chicken, lamb, or turkey
-Salt and pepper to taste
-1-2 tablespoons of oil or butter
-Seasonings, herbs, and vegetables of your choice


1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Prepare the meat by seasoning it with salt and pepper. If desired, add other seasonings, herbs, and vegetables.

3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the oil or butter and sear the meat on both sides.

4. Place the meat in a roasting pan and cover with foil. Roast in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

5. Remove the foil and continue roasting for an additional 15-30 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through.

6. Remove the meat from the oven and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before carving.


-For best results, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the roast. The temperature should reach at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit for beef, pork, chicken, and lamb. For turkey, the temperature should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

-If desired, you can baste the roast with pan juices or other liquids during the roasting process.

-For a crispier roast, turn the oven up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit during the last 10-15 minutes of roasting.
