All you need to know about: How To Cook Basmati Rice.

How To Cook Basmati Rice

Basmati rice is a type of long-grain rice that is grown in India and Pakistan. It has a nutty flavor and a distinct aroma that sets it apart from other types of rice. Basmati rice is a great side dish for curries and other Indian dishes, as well as a flavorful addition to salads and stir fries.

Ingredients

– 1 cup of Basmati rice
– 1¾ cups of cold water

Instructions

1. Measure out the Basmati rice. Be sure to use a measuring cup designed for dry ingredients.

2. Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it with cold water. This will help to remove any dirt or debris from the rice.

3. Place the rinsed rice in a medium-sized saucepan and add the cold water.

4. Place the pan on the stove over high heat and bring the water to a boil.

5. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid.

6. Allow the rice to simmer for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid while the rice is cooking.

7. Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.

8. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

Tips

– If you prefer a softer texture to your rice, add an extra ½ cup of water and increase the cooking time to 20 minutes.
– If you want to add flavor to your rice, try adding a pinch of salt to the water before cooking.
– For a different flavor, try adding 1 teaspoon of butter or olive oil to the water before cooking.
