Ingredients

• 4-5 lb. beef brisket
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 2 onions, chopped
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 cups beef broth
• 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 2 tablespoons tomato paste
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon black pepper
• 2 bay leaves
• 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Add the brisket and brown on both sides.
3. Remove the brisket from the skillet and place it in the slow cooker.
4. Add the onions and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
5. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, salt, pepper, bay leaves, and thyme.
6. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute.
7. Pour the mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker.
8. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
9. Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and discard the bay leaves.
10. Slice the brisket and serve.
