How To Cook Short Ribs Beef

Short ribs are a great cut of beef for slow-cooking. They are full of flavor and can be cooked in a variety of ways, from braising to grilling. Here is a simple recipe for slow-cooking short ribs in the oven.


• 4 lbs. short ribs
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 onion, chopped
• 2 carrots, chopped
• 2 stalks celery, chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 2 tablespoons tomato paste
• 2 cups beef broth
• 1 teaspoon dried thyme
• 2 bay leaves
• Salt and pepper to taste


1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat.

3. Season the ribs with salt and pepper, then add to the pot. Brown the ribs on all sides, about 8 minutes total.

4. Remove the ribs from the pot and set aside.

5. Add the onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to the pot and sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

6. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

7. Add the beef broth, thyme, and bay leaves to the pot. Return the ribs to the pot and bring to a boil.

8. Cover the pot and transfer to the preheated oven.

9. Bake for 2 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender.

10. Remove the ribs from the pot and serve. Enjoy!
