All you need to know about: How To Cook Wild Turkey.

How to Cook Wild Turkey

Wild turkey is a lean, healthy, and delicious source of protein that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Wild turkey is slightly different from the turkey you buy from the grocery store, as it is typically leaner and has a more intense flavor. To ensure that your wild turkey will be flavorful, juicy, and tender, it is important to follow a few essential tips for cooking it correctly.

Prepping the Wild Turkey

The first step to cooking wild turkey is to properly prepare it. Start by thawing your turkey in the refrigerator overnight. If you’re short on time, you can also thaw the turkey using cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes.

Once your turkey is thawed, season it generously inside and out with your favorite herbs and spices. You can also add butter or olive oil to the turkey to keep it moist while cooking.

Next, place the turkey in a roasting pan and cover it with aluminum foil. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cooking the Wild Turkey

Place the roasting pan with the turkey in the oven and cook it for 20 minutes per pound. Make sure to check the temperature of the turkey periodically to make sure it is cooking evenly.

When the turkey is nearly done, remove the aluminum foil and cook it for an additional 20 minutes. This will help to crisp the skin.

When the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit, it is done. Let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Serving the Wild Turkey

Wild turkey is a great source of lean protein that can be enjoyed in many forms. Serve it with your favorite side dishes, make a turkey sandwich with it, or use it in a soup. Enjoy!
