How To Cook Turkey

1 whole turkey (12-16 pounds)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons butter


1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Remove the turkey from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

3. Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water.

4. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.

5. Place the turkey in a roasting pan.

6. Rub the turkey with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

7. Place a few tablespoons of butter inside the cavity of the turkey.

8. Place the turkey in the preheated oven and roast for about 3 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

9. Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before carving.


• Make sure to use a meat thermometer to ensure your turkey is cooked through.

• If the turkey starts to brown too quickly, cover it with foil.

• Don’t forget to save the pan drippings for making gravy.
