2-3 pound rump roast
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup red wine
1/4 cup beef broth


1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over high heat.
2. Add the rump roast to the skillet and sear for about 4 minutes, or until the outside of the roast is browned.
3. Remove the roast from the skillet and place in the slow cooker.
4. In a small bowl, combine the garlic, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, thyme, rosemary, basil, onion powder and cumin.
5. Rub the spice mixture all over the roast.
6. Pour the red wine and beef broth into the slow cooker.
7. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours or on high heat for 4-5 hours.
8. When the roast is cooked through and tender, remove from the slow cooker and serve.
