Ingredients

– 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
– 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
– 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
– 3 tablespoons tomato paste
– 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
– 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic, onion, oregano, red pepper flakes, basil, pepper, and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

2. Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir to combine. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is thickened and flavorful, about 20 minutes.

3. Add the parsley and Parmesan cheese to the sauce. Stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.

4. Serve the sauce with your favorite pasta. Enjoy!
