How to Cook Lobster
Cooking lobster at home doesn’t have to be intimidating. In a few easy steps, you can be enjoying delicious, succulent lobster in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Ingredients
You’ll need the following ingredients to cook lobster:
-Live Lobsters (1-2 per person)
-Sea salt
-Water
-Butter
Instructions
1. Fill a large stockpot with enough water to cover the lobsters and add 1/4 cup of sea salt per gallon of water.
2. Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.
3. Carefully place the lobsters into the boiling water and cover the pot with a lid.
4. Reduce the heat to medium-high and let the lobster cook for 12-15 minutes.
5. Once the lobster has cooked, remove them from the pot and let them cool.
6. Using the back of a chef’s knife, crack open the lobster shell.
7. Remove the meat from the claws and tail and cut into small pieces.
8. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
9. Place the lobster meat into the melted butter and cook for 2-3 minutes.
10. Serve the lobster with your favorite sides and enjoy!
Tips
-You can also steam lobster by filling a large pot with an inch or two of water and bringing it to a boil. Place the lobsters in the pot, cover, and steam for about 10 minutes.
-If you are using frozen lobster, it is best to thaw it in the refrigerator overnight before cooking.
-If you are not sure when the lobster is done cooking, you can check by pulling off one of the legs. The meat should be white and opaque.
