1 cup short-grain rice


1. Start by rinsing the rice. Place the rice in a fine mesh strainer, and run cold water over it until the water runs clear. This will help remove excess starch and help the grains from sticking together.

2. Place the rinsed rice in a pot and add 1 ½ cups of water for every cup of rice.

3. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once it reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.

4. Simmer the rice on low heat for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this time or the steam will escape.

5. After 15 minutes, turn off the heat and leave the lid on for an additional 10 minutes. This will help ensure the rice is cooked through.

6. After 10 minutes, remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.


Serve the short-grain rice with your favorite dishes. Enjoy!
