Step 1: Preparing the Walleye
Before you start cooking, it is important to properly prepare the walleye. Start by rinsing the fish with cool water and patting it dry with a paper towel. If you plan on skinning the walleye, use a sharp knife to cut off the head and tail, then cut along the backbone and remove the skin. Once the fish is prepped, season it with a light sprinkle of salt and pepper.
Step 2: Choose the Cooking Method
You can cook walleye in a variety of ways, depending on your preference. Common methods include baking, grilling, frying, and poaching. For baking, preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and place the walleye on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
