Stovetop-cooked sprouts make a great side dish. Start by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of olive oil and the sprouts. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a tablespoon of butter and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the sprouts are tender.
If you’re short on time, microwave-cooking is a great way to prepare sprouts. Place the sprouts in a microwave-safe dish and add a tablespoon of water. Cover the dish with a lid or plastic wrap. Microwave on high for 3-4 minutes or until the sprouts are tender. Season with salt, pepper, and butter, if desired.
