How To Cook Poblano Peppers

Poblano peppers are a mild chili pepper that have a sweet and smoky flavor. They are great for adding flavor to a variety of dishes, from soups and stews to tacos and quesadillas. The key to cooking poblano peppers is to char the skin and soften the flesh before adding to the dish. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Preheat the Oven or Grill

Preheat the oven to 400°F or heat a grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2: Char the Peppers

Place the poblano peppers on a baking sheet or directly on the grill grates. Roast or grill them for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the skin is charred and the flesh is softened.

Step 3: Remove the Skin and Stem

Once the peppers are charred and softened, remove them from the heat and let them cool slightly. Carefully peel off the blackened skin and discard. Slice off the stem and discard.

Step 4: Slice or Chop

Slice the peppers into strips or dice them into small cubes, depending on the recipe you’ll be using them in.

Step 5: Add to the Dish

Add the prepared poblano peppers to your dish and enjoy the smoky flavor.
