Instructions

1. Start by sorting through your dried pinto beans, discarding any stones, debris or discolored beans. Rinse the beans with cold water and set aside.

2. Place the rinsed beans in the Instant Pot and add enough cold water to cover the beans by at least one inch.

3. Secure the lid and make sure the pressure release valve is in the sealed position.

4. Press the ‘Bean/Chili’ setting and adjust the time to 15 minutes.

5. When the cooking time is complete, press the ‘Cancel’ button and allow the pressure to release naturally.

Seasoning

1. After the pressure has released, remove the lid and drain the beans.

2. Return the beans to the pot and add your seasonings of choice.

3. Stir to combine and then press the ‘Saute’ setting.

4. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring often, until the beans have reached your desired texture.

5. Serve your cooked pinto beans with your favorite accompaniments.

Storage

1. If there are any leftovers, allow the beans to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container.
