• 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
• 1/2 teaspoon of garlic, minced
• 1/2 teaspoon of shallots, minced
• 4 ounces of firm tofu, cut into cubes
• 2 tablespoons of tamarind paste
• 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
• 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar
• 1/4 cup of unsalted peanuts, roughly chopped
• 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro
• 1/4 cup of bean sprouts
• 2 eggs, lightly beaten
• 2 tablespoons of lime juice
• 1/4 cup of chopped fresh basil

Once you’ve gathered all of your ingredients, it’s time to start cooking.

Cooking the Noodles

The first step in making pad thai noodles is to cook the noodles. Bring a pot of water to a boil, then add the noodles and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they are al dente. Once the noodles are cooked, drain them and rinse them with cold water to stop the cooking process.

Making the Sauce

While the noodles are cooking, you can make the sauce. In a small bowl, combine the tamarind paste, fish sauce, light brown sugar, and lime juice and mix until combined. Set the sauce aside until you are ready to use it.

Cooking the Pad Thai

Once the noodles are cooked and the sauce is made, you can start cooking the pad thai. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil. When the oil is hot, add the garlic and shallots and sauté for a few minutes until fragrant.

Add the tofu to the pan and cook for a few minutes, until lightly browned. Add the cooked noodles, sauce, and peanuts to the pan and stir to combine. Cook for a few minutes, until the noodles are heated through.

Add the eggs to the pan and stir to combine. Cook for a few minutes, until the eggs are cooked through. Add the bean sprouts, cilantro, and basil and stir to combine. Cook for a few minutes, until everything is heated through.

Serving

Once the pad thai is cooked, remove it from the heat and serve with a wedge of lime. Enjoy!
