Ingredients
1 cup of oats
1 cup of either water, milk, or a non-dairy alternative
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of water or milk to a boil.
2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and add the oats.
3. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Once the desired consistency is reached, remove from heat and serve.
Tips
– For a creamier texture, add more liquid before boiling.
– If you prefer a chewier texture, reduce the liquid and cook for a shorter amount of time.
– You can also cook the oats in a microwave. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of oats with 1 cup of liquid and microwave for 2 minutes, stirring halfway through.
– To add flavor to your oats, add a pinch of salt, honey, maple syrup, or other sweetener. You can also add a variety of fruits, nuts, and seeds.
– Leftover cooked oats can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat before serving.
