– 1 cup of rolled oats
– 2 cups of water or milk
– Optional add-ins, like sweetener, dried fruit, nuts, nut butter, and/or spices


1. Begin by bringing the water or milk to a boil in a medium-sized pot.

2. Once boiling, add in the oats and stir.

3. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are cooked to your liking.

4. Once cooked, turn off the heat and stir in your desired add-ins.

5. Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl and enjoy!

– For a creamier oatmeal, use milk instead of water.
