How To Cook Maitake Mushrooms

Maitake mushrooms, also known as hen of the woods mushrooms, are a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal. With a flavor that is slightly sweet and nutty, maitake mushrooms can be cooked in a variety of ways and enjoyed as a side dish or main entree. Here is how to cook maitake mushrooms.


-1 lb maitake mushrooms
-2 cloves garlic, minced
-2 tablespoons olive oil
-1 teaspoon dried thyme
-Salt and pepper to taste


1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. Rinse the mushrooms under cool running water to remove any dirt or debris. Pat dry with a paper towel.

3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes.

4. Add the thyme, salt and pepper and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.

5. Transfer the mushrooms to a baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender.
