1 lb. of fresh field peas
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
1 teaspoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of butter
1/2 cup of chicken broth
1/4 cup of diced onion


1. Begin by rinsing the field peas in a colander under cold running water.

2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

3. Add the minced garlic, diced onion, thyme, black pepper, and crushed red pepper to the pan and sauté for about 2 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.

4. Add the field peas to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Pour the chicken broth into the skillet and bring to a boil.

6. Reduce the heat and simmer the peas, uncovered, for 15 minutes, or until they are tender.

7. Serve the peas hot with your favorite side dish. Enjoy!
