How To Cook A Moist Turkey

All you need to know about: How To Cook A Moist Turkey.

Preparation

To ensure your turkey is cooked to perfection and stays moist, you’ll need to prepare it correctly before cooking.

Start by thawing your turkey: if you purchased a frozen turkey, it will need to be thawed in the refrigerator for 1 day for every 4 pounds of turkey.

Once thawed, remove the giblets and neck from the turkey. Rinse the turkey inside and out with cold water, then pat dry with paper towels.

Seasoning

Season your turkey before roasting to add flavour and keep it moist. Rub the turkey with a mixture of butter, herbs, and spices. Mix together butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and pepper and rub it over the turkey.

You can also add a few tablespoons of butter or oil to the inside of the turkey before cooking. This helps keep the turkey moist as it cooks.

Roasting

Preheat the oven to 325°F. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour 1 cup of chicken stock into the pan. Cover the entire pan with aluminum foil.

Bake the turkey for about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F. Uncover the turkey during the last 30 minutes of cooking to brown the skin.

After the turkey is finished cooking, allow it to rest for 15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute and keeps the turkey moist.

Serving

Once the turkey is cooked, it’s time to serve. Carve the turkey and serve it alongside your favorite sides.

Enjoy!
