– 1 Rib Eye Steak (1 inch thick, 1-2 lbs)
– 2 teaspoons of kosher salt, or to taste
– 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
– 1 tablespoon of olive oil


1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.

3. Pat the steak dry with a paper towel and season generously on both sides with the salt and pepper.

4. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.

5. Add the olive oil and swirl it around the pan to coat the surface.

6. Place the steak in the skillet and cook for 3 minutes on each side.

7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.

8. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness.

9. Remove the steak from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
