Cooking steak can be intimidating, but with the right techniques, it is easy to make a delicious steak at home. Here are the basics for how to cook steak.
Choose the Right Cut of Steak
When it comes to choosing the right steak for your dish, the two main factors to consider are the fat content and the cooking method. For example, a lean cut of steak such as a sirloin or flank steak is better suited for grilling or broiling, while a fattier cut such as a ribeye or strip steak is best cooked using a pan-searing or braising technique.
Season the Steak
Before cooking the steak, it is important to season it with salt and pepper. The amount of salt and pepper you use will depend on the size of the steak and how it will be cooked. Generally, a teaspoon of salt and a half teaspoon of pepper is enough for a 1-inch thick steak.
Prepare the Grill or Pan
If you are grilling the steak, preheat the grill to medium-high heat before adding the steak. If you are cooking the steak in a pan, heat the pan over medium-high heat before adding the steak.
Cook the Steak
