How To Cook Rice Properly

All you need to know about: How To Cook Rice Properly.

Ingredients

1 cup of uncooked white rice
2 cups of water
Salt (optional)

Instructions

1. Measure out 1 cup of uncooked white rice into a fine mesh sieve and rinse it well under cold running water. This will remove any dirt or debris and also remove the excess starch, which can make the cooked rice sticky.

2. Place the rinsed rice into a medium saucepan, and add 2 cups of water.

3. Add a pinch of salt, if desired.

4. Place the saucepan over high heat, and bring the water to a rolling boil.

5. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid.

6. Simmer the rice for 18 minutes, stirring occasionally.

7. After 18 minutes, turn off the heat and leave the lid on the saucepan for an additional 5 minutes.

8. After 5 minutes, remove the lid, fluff the rice with a fork, and serve.

Tips

– For perfect rice, use a 1:2 ratio of uncooked rice to water.
– If you’d like to add flavor to your rice, try adding a pinch of salt, a pat of butter, or a splash of olive oil to the cooking water.
– Make sure to keep the lid on the saucepan while cooking, as this will help steam the rice and give it a soft and fluffy texture.
– For best results, let the cooked rice rest for 5 minutes before serving.
– You can store cooked rice in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
