– 1 cup of long-grain white rice
– 2 cups of water


1. Measure the rice and water into a medium saucepan.

2. Place the pan over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil.

3. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan.

4. Simmer the rice for 15 to 20 minutes, or until all the water has been absorbed.

5. Check the rice for tenderness. If it is still a bit firm, add a few tablespoons of water, replace the lid and continue to cook for a few minutes.

6. Once the rice is cooked to your liking, turn off the heat and let the rice sit for 5 minutes.

7. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
