Part 1: Preparing the Rice

1. Measure out the desired amount of rice. Generally, 1 cup of uncooked rice yields 3 cups of cooked rice.

2. Rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer. This will remove any dirt or debris that may be on the rice.

3. Place the rinsed rice into a pot with a tight-fitting lid.

4. Add 2 cups of water for every 1 cup of uncooked rice.

Part 2: Cooking the Rice

1. Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat to high.

2. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and keep the lid on.

3. Simmer the rice for 18-20 minutes.

4. After 18-20 minutes, check the rice to see if it is done. If not, add a few tablespoons of water and continue to simmer for a few more minutes.

Part 3: Finishing the Rice

1. Once the rice is done, turn off the heat and let the rice sit for a few minutes.

2. Fluff the rice with a fork or spoon before serving.
