How To Cook Mussels

Mussels are an incredibly delicious seafood dish that can be cooked in a variety of ways. This recipe will show you how to cook them in a simple, yet flavorful garlic and white wine sauce.


– 2 pounds of fresh mussels, cleaned and de-bearded
– 2 tablespoons of olive oil
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 1 cup of dry white wine
– ΒΌ cup of butter
– Salt and pepper to taste


1. Begin by heating the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.

2. Once the oil is hot, add in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

3. Add the mussels to the pot and cook, stirring occasionally, until they just start to open.

4. Pour in the white wine and reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer for 10 minutes.

5. Uncover the pot and add in the butter. Increase the heat to medium-high and continue to cook until the mussels are completely open and the liquid has reduced by half.

6. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve. Enjoy!
