How To Cook Kohlrabi

Kohlrabi is a versatile vegetable that can be used in a variety of dishes. This root vegetable is similar in flavor to broccoli, cabbage and turnips, but has a unique texture and flavor that makes it stand out. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to cook kohlrabi.

Ingredients

– 1 medium kohlrabi
– 2 tablespoons of butter
– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Start by peeling the kohlrabi. Cut off the stem and bottom, then peel the skin off with a sharp vegetable peeler or paring knife.
2. Cut the kohlrabi into small cubes, about ½ inch in size.
3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
4. Once the butter has melted, add the kohlrabi cubes and season with salt and pepper.
5. Stir the kohlrabi cubes to coat them in the butter.
6. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the kohlrabi is tender, about 8-10 minutes.
7. Serve hot as a side dish.

Tips

– You can also roast kohlrabi for a more intense flavor. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and spread the kohlrabi cubes on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Roast in the oven for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the kohlrabi is golden brown and tender.
– You can also use kohlrabi in soups and stews, or even in salads. Simply replace the potatoes or other vegetables in your favorite recipes with kohlrabi for a unique twist.
