What Kind of Beans Can You Cook in an Instant Pot?

The great thing about cooking beans in an Instant Pot is that you can cook almost any type of bean. From black beans to chickpeas, lentils, and more, you can make a wide variety of dishes in your Instant Pot.

What You’ll Need

Before you get started cooking your beans in an Instant Pot, make sure you have the following items:

– Dried beans of your choice
– 1 tablespoon of oil
– Salt and pepper
– 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced (optional)
– Any other seasonings or herbs of your choice (optional)

1. Start by sorting through your beans and removing any debris or stones that may be present.

2. Rinse the beans in a colander and set aside.

3. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the Instant Pot and press the “Sauté” button.

4. When the oil is hot, add the beans, salt, pepper, garlic, and any other seasonings or herbs you’d like to use.

5. Stir the beans together and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.

6. Add enough water to cover the beans, making sure to leave an inch or two of space at the top.

7. Secure the lid on the Instant Pot, making sure the valve is set to “sealing.”

8. Select the “Bean/Chili” setting and set the time to 20 minutes.

9. When the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release any remaining pressure.

10. Carefully remove the lid and check the beans to see if they’re cooked to your desired doneness. If not, replace the lid and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

11. Serve your beans hot with the dish of your choice. Enjoy!
