How To Cook Chili

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pound ground beef
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup beef broth
Salt and freshly ground black pepper


1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

2. Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano and cayenne pepper and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it starts to brown, about 5 minutes.

3. Add the tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes.

4. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
