How To Cook Carnitas
Carnitas are one of the most popular Mexican dishes and can be served as either a main dish or as tacos. Carnitas are slow-cooked pork that is cooked until it is tender and juicy and can be served in a variety of different ways. Here is how to cook carnitas in your own kitchen.
Ingredients
– 2-3 pounds of boneless pork shoulder
– 1 teaspoon of sea salt
– 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
– 1 teaspoon of chili powder
– 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon of onion powder
– ½ teaspoon of black pepper
– ½ teaspoon of oregano
– 1 teaspoon of olive oil
– ½ cup of chicken stock
– 2 tablespoons of lime juice
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
2. Cut the pork shoulder into cubes and place them into a large bowl.
3. Sprinkle the salt, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and oregano onto the pork cubes.
4. Drizzle the olive oil over the pork cubes and mix everything together until the pork cubes are evenly coated with the spices.
5. Place the pork cubes into a roasting pan or a large Dutch oven.
6. Add the chicken stock and lime juice to the roasting pan and mix everything together.
7. Place the roasting pan into the preheated oven and cook for 1 ½ to 2 hours, or until the pork cubes are tender and juicy.
8. Once the pork is cooked, remove the roasting pan from the oven and let the carnitas cool for about 10 minutes.
9. Serve the carnitas and enjoy!
