How To Cook Candied Yams

– 2-3 large yams
– 1/2 cup of butter
– 1/2 cup of brown sugar
– 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
– 2 tablespoons of orange juice
– 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
– 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
– 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
– 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
– 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
– Salt and pepper to taste


1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Peel and cut the yams into 1/2 inch thick slices.

3. Place the yams in a 9×13 inch baking dish.

4. In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter.

5. Add the brown sugar, corn syrup, orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, salt, and pepper to the melted butter.

6. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

7. Pour the mixture over the yams and spread evenly.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
