What You’ll Need

– 1-2 A5 Wagyu steaks
– Salt
– Pepper
– Olive oil
– Cast iron skillet
– Paper towels


1. Thaw the steak overnight in the refrigerator.

2. When ready to cook, take the steak out 30 minutes prior to cooking and let it come to room temperature.

3. Pat the steak dry with paper towels.

4. Generously season the steak with salt and pepper.

5. Heat the cast iron skillet on high heat for 5 minutes and add enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the skillet.

6. When the oil is hot, place the steak in the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side.

7. After the searing, lower the heat to medium-high heat and cook the steak for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side.

8. Once done, remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.


– Make sure the skillet is hot before adding the steak.
– Don’t overcook the steak, as A5 Wagyu steak is best served medium-rare.
– Resting the steak after cooking will help redistribute the juices, making it more flavorful.
