1 Tri Tip Roast, approximately 2 to 3 pounds
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp ground black pepper
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp smoked paprika
1. Begin by prepping the tri tip. Trim off any excess fat and silver skin. Place the tri tip in a shallow pan.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, pepper, onion powder, oregano, thyme and smoked paprika.
3. Rub this mixture all over the tri tip. Cover the pan and let it marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
4. Once the marinade is complete, heat the grill to medium-high heat.
5. Place the tri tip on the grill. Grill each side for about 5 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F.
6. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
7. Slice the tri tip against the grain and serve.
