Filet Mignon How To Cook

All you need to know about: Filet Mignon How To Cook.

Preparing the Filet Mignon

Begin by prepping the filet mignon. Start by removing it from the refrigerator and letting it come to room temperature for about 15 minutes. Using a sharp kitchen knife, trim any fat and silver skin off the steak. Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.

Choose a Cooking Method

Filet mignon can be cooked in a variety of ways depending on your preference. It can be pan seared, grilled, roasted, or slow cooked.

Pan Seared Filet Mignon

To pan sear the steak, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of butter and a tablespoon of oil. When the butter and oil are melted and hot, add the steak and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, depending on the thickness of the steak.

Test For Doneness

To test for doneness, insert a meat thermometer into the center of the steak. The steak is rare when the thermometer reads 125 degrees Fahrenheit, medium-rare when it reads 135 degrees Fahrenheit, and well-done when it reads 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Let Rest and Serve

Once the steak is cooked to the desired temperature, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the steak. Serve the steak with a side of vegetables or a salad. Enjoy!
