How To Cook Ham Oven

All you need to know about: How To Cook Ham Oven.

Preparation

Before you start cooking, you’ll need to prepare the ham. Begin by preheating the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remove the ham from its packaging and place it on a cutting board. If the ham has a plastic covering, make sure to remove it. If the ham is still in its netting, you can leave it on for roasting.

Score the Ham

Score the surface of the ham with a sharp knife, making diamond shapes about an inch apart on the surface. This helps the glaze penetrate the meat and ensures the ham will be moist and flavorful.

Glaze the Ham

Prepare your favorite glaze for the ham. Brush the glaze onto the scored surface, making sure to cover the entire ham evenly. You can use a store-bought glaze, or make your own with orange juice, honey, brown sugar, mustard, and spices.

Cook the Ham

Place the ham in an oven-safe roasting pan and cook it for about 20 minutes per pound. Baste the ham with the glaze every 15 minutes to ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Carve the Ham

Once the ham has finished cooking, remove it from the oven and let it sit for 10 minutes. This allows the juices to settle, making the ham easier to carve.

Using a sharp carving knife, slice the ham into thin slices and serve. Enjoy!
