1. Fill a pot or saucepan with at least 2 inches of water.
2. Place the pot on the stove over medium-high heat and bring the water to a gentle boil.
3. Crack the egg into a small bowl or ramekin.
4. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and stir the water.
5. Gently slide the egg into the water.
6. Let the egg cook for 2-3 minutes, until the egg white is cooked and the yolk is still runny.
7. Remove the egg from the water with a slotted spoon.
8. Serve the poached egg on toast, salads or other dishes.


To make sure the egg holds together, you can add a teaspoon of white vinegar to the water before poaching the egg. If you’d like a firmer yolk, cook the egg for a few minutes longer.
