1 (4-5 pound) whole chicken
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup chicken broth


1. Remove giblets from the chicken and discard.
2. Pat dry the chicken with a paper towel.
3. Combine garlic powder, Italian seasoning, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
4. Rub the spices all over the chicken, ensuring all areas are covered.
5. Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode and add the chicken, breast side down.
6. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the skin is golden brown.
7. Flip the chicken and add the chicken broth to the pot.
8. Secure the lid of the Instant Pot and make sure the pressure valve is set to “Sealing” mode.
9. Set the Instant Pot to “Pressure Cook” mode and set the timer to 25 minutes.
10. When the timer beeps, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes.
11. Quick release any remaining pressure, if needed.
12. Carefully open the lid of the Instant Pot and check the temperature of the chicken using a meat thermometer. The thermometer should read 165°F when inserted in the thickest part of the chicken.
13. Once the chicken is cooked through, transfer it to a plate or cutting board.
14. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving.
