Ingredients

– 8 ounces of elbow macaroni
– 2 tablespoons of butter
– 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
– 1 cup of milk
– 1/2 teaspoon of salt
– 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
– 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
– 2 cups of shredded cheese
– 1/4 cup of bread crumbs (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain the pasta and set aside.

3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add in the flour, stirring with a whisk until it forms a paste.

4. Gradually add in the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture is smooth.

5. Add in the salt, pepper, and garlic powder, stirring until combined.

6. Reduce the heat to low and add in the cheese, stirring until it’s melted.

7. Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and stir until combined.

8. Transfer the mac and cheese to a 9×13 inch baking dish.

9. Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the top of the mac and cheese (optional).

10. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

11. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
