How To Cook Beef Tongue

– 2 ½-3 lbs. beef tongue
– 1 large onion, diced
– 4 carrots, diced
– 4 stalks of celery, diced
– 2 bay leaves
– 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
– 6-10 cloves of garlic, peeled and crushed
– 1 teaspoon sea salt
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
1. Start by rinsing the tongue in cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
2. Heat the olive oil in a large pot on medium-high heat. Add the onion, carrots, celery and garlic and cook until vegetables start to soften, about 3-4 minutes.
3. Add the tongue to the pot and cover with cold water. Add the bay leaves, peppercorns, and salt.
4. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the tongue is tender.
5. Once the tongue is cooked, remove it from the pot and let it cool.
6. Once cooled, peel off the outer skin of the tongue and discard. Slice the tongue into thin slices.
7. Serve the tongue with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a simple salad. Enjoy!
