How To Cook Beef Stew

2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 stalks of celery, chopped
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
1 teaspoon of salt
2 pounds of cubed beef
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
2 cups of beef broth
1 cup of red wine
1 bay leaf


Heat the oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, celery, and carrots. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

Add the thyme, oregano, pepper, salt, and beef. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until the beef is browned.

Sprinkle the flour over the beef and vegetables. Stir in the beef broth and red wine. Add the bay leaf and bring the mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Simmer the stew for about 1 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender. Stir the stew occasionally.

Remove the bay leaf. Serve the stew warm. Enjoy!
