How To Cook Beef Sirloin Steak

Beef sirloin steak is a delicious and tender cut of beef that can be prepared in a variety of ways. Whether you’re grilling, pan-frying, or oven-roasting, the key to cooking a perfect sirloin steak is to follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Prepare the Steak

Begin by taking your steak out of the refrigerator and allowing it to come to room temperature, about 30 minutes. This will ensure the steak cooks evenly. Once the steak has come to room temperature, pat it dry with a paper towel and season it generously with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Choose the Right Cooking Method

The type of cooking method you choose will depend on the type of steak and the desired end result. For a tender, juicy steak, grilling or pan-frying is the best choice. For a more well-done steak, oven-roasting is best.

Step 3: Cook the Steak

If grilling the steak, preheat the grill to high heat and place the steak on the hottest part of the grill. If pan-frying, heat a few tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the steak in the skillet.

Cook the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side, flipping only once. If you’re using a thermometer, cook the steak to an internal temperature of 130°F for medium-rare, or 140°F for medium.

Step 4: Let the Steak Rest

Once the steak is cooked to your desired temperature, remove it from the heat and transfer it to a cutting board. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This will allow the steak to reabsorb its juices and be more tender.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

Once the steak has rested, slice it against the grain and serve. Enjoy your perfectly cooked sirloin steak!
