How To Cook Pierogies
Pierogies are a delicious Eastern European dish that can be enjoyed for dinner or as a snack. They are made with a simple dough and filled with a variety of fillings, such as potatoes, cheese, and even sauerkraut. Here’s how to make pierogies at home:
Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons butter, melted
– 2/3 cup cold water
– Filling of your choice
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, eggs, salt, butter, and cold water. Mix until a soft dough forms.
2. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky.
3. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 6 inches in diameter.
4. Place 1 tablespoon of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal.
5. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Gently add the pierogies to the boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the pierogies float to the top.
6. Remove from the water with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel.
7. Serve with sour cream and melted butter. Enjoy!
